Restoring a Turkish Sumac rug requires skill and precision, as
these rugs often feature intricate, hand-done stitching and delicate fibers.
The restoration process is more complex than standard cleaning and typically
involves repairing any damage to the fibers, design, or structure of the rug. This rug is over 100 years old and requires delicate work.
The first picture shows the rug in a very worn condition. The rug is a valuable, yet very worn and requires attention to the following areas:
-Field is completely worn and torn in several areas and requires reweaving and color restoration work
-Fringe is completely torn off and requires fringe implants, to clarify, this IS NOT sewn on, Jafri Rug restoration will do fringe implant work where weavers will implant the fringe into the warp and weft of the rug by hand
-Edging of the rug is unraveling into the field and requires new binding work to be added
The second picture shows the post restoration work, and the artistry shows that this rug maintains its antiquity and does not look newly made, it looks as though it came off the loom circa 1900.
Jafri Rug restoration completely restored this rug by doing the following:
1. Inspection and Assessment
2. Cleaning Before Restoration
3. Reweaving Damaged Sections
4. Fringe and Edge Repair
5. Dyeing and Color Restoration
6. Final Inspection

I bless the day I found Mr Jafri. As one who has collected rugs for 50 years, I both learned about their value and origins and had them beautifully cleaned and repaired.
Very beautiful rugs there, would have been a difficult decision. Only needed a rug pad this time. When we're in the market again, this is where we'll go. Pete, Delmar, NY
