This is an example of an antique Turkoman rug from the 19th century. It's a tribal rug known for its florid geometric design motif pattern. The rug is densely knotted but has certain areas where there was shoddy patchwork done during the life of the rug. This was done as the weavers did poor work simply to save the rug.
Jafri Rugs will make sure to do the following:
Apply an antique wash to the rug where the rug will be
soaked for days and then dusted
Repair all the fringe and binding work
Remove the existing patchwork, and reweave the field to maintain the integrity of the design
and eliminate all wear
This customer required immediate color restoration for the
rug.
Additionally, Jafri Rugs will make sure to maintain the
antique aesthetic of the rug so that it does not look newly made and that the
rug looks appropriate for its age
The actual process will be the following:
1. Inspection and Assessment
2. Cleaning Before Restoration
3. Reweaving Damaged Sections
4. Fringe and Edge Repair
5. Dyeing and Color Restoration
6. Final Inspection

I bless the day I found Mr Jafri. As one who has collected rugs for 50 years, I both learned about their value and origins and had them beautifully cleaned and repaired.
Very beautiful rugs there, would have been a difficult decision. Only needed a rug pad this time. When we're in the market again, this is where we'll go. Pete, Delmar, NY
