This customer required their rug to be cut down from a 13x13 rug to a 10x10 rug. The rug is all wool with an all over pattern. In order to cut a rug down correctly Jafri Rug restoration examines the following:
-Does the rug have a medallion? if so then the rug should not be cut as this will make the borders smaller and the medallion larger which would look unconvincing
-If the rug has an all over pattern, then the rug should be cut
-Make sure the binding is completed following the cutting as there will be loose wool that can unravel into the field
Jafri Rug restoration will do the following:
-Clean the rug first to soften up the fibers
-Cut the rug down
-Bind the rug to have the frame of the rug

I bless the day I found Mr Jafri. As one who has collected rugs for 50 years, I both learned about their value and origins and had them beautifully cleaned and repaired.
Very beautiful rugs there, would have been a difficult decision. Only needed a rug pad this time. When we're in the market again, this is where we'll go. Pete, Delmar, NY
